Description: The Lurker Scout is a wiry, spider-like creature built for stealth and agility. Its slim, matte black body and elongated limbs allow it to navigate tight crevices and shadowed terrain with ease. Equipped with numerous spidery eyes, it has exceptional night vision and heightened sensory awareness. Though fearsome in appearance, it is physically unimpressive in combat and relies on its speed, stealth, and its symbiotic partnership with a Lurker Predator to be effective.
Behaviour: Timid and evasive, the Lurker Scout operates as a decoy, baiting targets into vulnerable positions. It often darts through cracks or shadows, fleeing at the first sign of real threat. It rarely engages unless it perceives a low-risk opportunity or is working in concert with its deadlier counterpart. The two form a deadly ambush duo, with the Scout distracting while the Predator strikes from an unexpected angle.
Combat notes
Weaknesses: Extremely vulnerable to light and physical force. Its wiry frame is fragile, particularly around the neck, which can be severed with a well-placed strike. Panics easily when directly confronted or injured.
Strategy: Avoid fighting alone. Use intense light to reveal and disorient it. Forcing it into open ground limits its movement and strips away its cover advantage. It is smart enough to dodge both melee and ranged attacks and tends to avoid prolonged engagements. Prioritize eliminating the Lurker Predator first if both are present, as it poses the greater threat.
Alchemical aid: In confined and shadowed spaces, a dark-vision concoction can help spot it before it ambushes—but leaves the user vulnerable to light. A powdered inhalant, when released, causes severe disorientation in the creature, especially in close quarters.
