General Information
Name: Flamor
Class: Oreborn
Type: Fuel
Colour: Deep maroon-black, with rust-orange marbling
Smell: Pungent, like burnt syrup and pine tar; leaves a dry numbness in the nose
Description: Flamor is a dense mineral fuel found in layered seams beneath dry hills, foothills, and collapsed root caves. It resembles blackened stone at first, but reveals a fibrous, marbled interior when struck. Ideal for kilns, forges, and enclosed chambers. Known as "the sleeping flame", it can smolder for hours beneath ash and flare back to life with a breath of air.
Properties: Dried ignites easily from sparks or heat and maintains consistent, forge-grade temperatures. Burns long and clean, without noxious smoke. Non-explosive and spark-free, making it ideal for smelting ores or heating alchemical equipment. Ashes have perservating properties.
Harvesting & Processing
Harvesting: Extracted from fibrous veins in dry underground seams. Use handpicks or pry tools rather than smashing as pressure-packed cores may fracture if struck carelessly and cause injury. Only dry, freshly exposed deposits should be harvested; Flamor near surface roots may decay from moisture exposure.
Processing: Freshly cut chunks must be dried beneath cloth in direct sun for two full days before use. If waterlogged, Flamor requires weeks to regain flammability. Tiny pieces are ideal for cooking and traveling as sparked firestarters.
Storage: Store in dry wooden crates, Rimeleek jars, Drak hide, Vellaflax-polstered sacks, to keep moisture out. Always store away from open flame or damp environments.
